How to install SnipperApp 3 from the Mac App Store.
Installation
SnipperApp 3 is available exclusively on the Mac App Store. This guide walks you through downloading, installing, and launching the app for the first time.
System Requirements
- macOS 15.0 (Sequoia) or later
- A Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later) or an Intel processor
- An Apple ID for Mac App Store access
- Approximately 50 MB of disk space
- An iCloud account (optional, for snippet sync across devices)
Download from the Mac App Store
- Open the Mac App Store on your Mac.
- Search for "SnipperApp 3" or visit the direct App Store link.
- Click Get and then Install.
- Authenticate with your Apple ID if prompted.
The app will download and install automatically. Once complete, you will find SnipperApp 3 in your Applications folder and Launchpad.
First Launch
When you open SnipperApp 3 for the first time:
- Launch the app from your Applications folder, Launchpad, or Spotlight (Cmd+Space, then type "SnipperApp").
- Grant permissions -- The app may ask for permission to access your Documents folder or iCloud. Allow these to enable full functionality.
- Welcome screen -- You will see a brief introduction to the app's key features. You can skip this or walk through it.
- Default workspace -- A default workspace is automatically created for you. You can rename it or create additional workspaces later.
Menubar Setup
SnipperApp 3 includes a menubar companion that runs alongside the main app. On first launch:
- The menubar icon appears in your Mac's menu bar automatically.
- You can configure the global hotkey (default: Cmd+Shift+V) in Settings to quickly access your snippets from any application.
Updating
SnipperApp 3 updates automatically through the Mac App Store. To check for updates manually:
- Open the Mac App Store.
- Click Updates in the sidebar.
- If an update is available for SnipperApp 3, click Update.
You can also enable automatic updates in System Settings > App Store.
Upgrading from SnipperApp 2
If you are upgrading from SnipperApp 2, you can import your existing snippets:
- Open SnipperApp 3 and go to Settings.
- Navigate to the Backup section.
- Use the Import from V2 option to select your
.snipperapp2backup file. - Your snippets, folders, and tags will be imported into the current workspace.
