Editor Themes
SnipperApp 3 lets you customize the look and feel of the code editor with Prism themes, font settings, and layout options.
Prism Themes
The editor ships with a curated selection of Prism themes that control the color scheme used for syntax highlighting. Available themes include:
Light Themes
- Default -- The standard Prism light theme with clean, high-contrast colors.
- Coy -- A soft, light theme with subtle token differentiation.
- Solarized Light -- Based on the popular Solarized color palette.
- GHColors -- A theme inspired by GitHub's code highlighting.
Dark Themes
- Tomorrow Night -- A popular dark theme with well-balanced colors.
- Dracula -- The widely-used Dracula color scheme.
- One Dark -- Inspired by the Atom One Dark theme.
- VSCode Dark+ -- Modeled after Visual Studio Code's default dark theme.
- Nord -- Based on the Nord arctic color palette.
- Material Dark -- Follows the Material Design dark color scheme.
- Synthwave '84 -- A retro-futuristic neon theme.
- Night Owl -- Designed for low-light environments with carefully chosen contrast.
Changing the Theme
- Open Settings (Cmd+,).
- Navigate to the Editor section.
- Browse the theme gallery and click a theme to preview it.
- The theme is applied immediately -- no restart required.
The selected theme respects your system appearance. You can configure separate themes for light and dark mode, so the editor automatically switches themes when you toggle your Mac's appearance.
Font Customization
Font Family
You can choose any monospaced font installed on your system for the editor:
- Open Settings (Cmd+,).
- In the Editor section, find the Font setting.
- Select a font from the dropdown. Popular choices include:
- SF Mono (default)
- Menlo
- Fira Code
- JetBrains Mono
- Source Code Pro
- Cascadia Code
- IBM Plex Mono
Font Size
Adjust the font size to your preference:
- In Settings > Editor, use the Font Size control.
- The default size is 13pt.
- Supported range is typically 10pt to 24pt.
You can also adjust font size quickly in the editor using Cmd+Plus to increase and Cmd+Minus to decrease.
Line Spacing
Control the vertical spacing between lines of code:
- Open Settings > Editor.
- Adjust the Line Spacing (also called line height) slider.
- Values range from compact (1.0) to spacious (2.0), with 1.5 as the default.
Tighter line spacing lets you see more code at once, while looser spacing improves readability for longer sessions.
Word Wrap
By default, long lines extend beyond the visible editor width and require horizontal scrolling. You can enable word wrap to keep all content visible:
- Open Settings > Editor.
- Toggle Word Wrap on or off.
When word wrap is enabled, lines break at the editor boundary and continue on the next visual line. The actual snippet content is not modified -- wrapping is purely visual.
Word wrap is especially useful for:
- Markdown snippets with long paragraphs
- Log entries or data snippets with long lines
- Configuration files with lengthy values
Tips
- Use a dark theme for late-night coding sessions to reduce eye strain.
- Pair a ligature-capable font like Fira Code or JetBrains Mono with any theme for enhanced code readability.
- Experiment with line spacing -- even small adjustments can significantly affect comfort during long editing sessions.
- The theme and font settings apply globally to all snippets in all workspaces.
